Overview

Thailand's highest mountain, done in the right order: the cloud-forest summit early, the royal pagodas mid-morning, then a walk on the Pha Dok Siew trail with a guide from the Karen village it belongs to.

Lunch is cooked in the village, and part of the trail fee goes to the community that maintains the path.

Itinerary

1. 07:30Hotel pickup

   Drive about 2 hours south-west.

2. 09:30Summit & Ang Ka boardwalk

   A short walk through the cloud forest at the top.

3. 10:30King and Queen pagodas

   Gardens and valley views.

4. 11:30Pha Dok Siew trail

   A 2.5 km walk, mostly downhill, with a Karen trail guide.

5. 13:00Village lunch

   Lunch cooked by the community.

6. 14:30Wachirathan Waterfall

   Viewpoint stop.

• Tips

Good to know

• The summit is often 10–14°C in the morning. Bring a layer.
• Trainers are fine for the trail; flip-flops are not.
• November to February has the clearest views.
• Fees in Thai baht are set by the parks and sites and can change without notice.
