Travel guide

Visiting Kampot and Kep

Kampot is a relaxed river town with old French shophouses, and Kep is a small seaside town known for its crab market. Together they make an easy break from temples and cities.

Best time to go

November to April is dry and good for Bokor Mountain and boat trips. From May to October, expect rain, with mist on Bokor.

What to see

  • Bokor National Park and its old hill station, often cool and misty.
  • A Kampot pepper farm. Kampot pepper has protected geographical status.
  • Kep's crab market, with crab cooked in fresh green pepper.
  • Rabbit Island (Koh Tonsay), a short boat ride from Kep.
  • Sunset on the Kampot river.

Getting there

Kampot is about 3 hours by road from Phnom Penh, and Kep is about 30 minutes further. Both are included on our 3-day trip.
