Overview

Ang Thong is an archipelago of 42 limestone islands west of Samui. The best of it is above the water: the climb to the Koh Wua Talap viewpoint, and the emerald saltwater lake of Talay Nai hidden inside Koh Mae Ko.

We go by speedboat for more time on the islands and less time getting there.

Itinerary

1. 07:30Hotel pickup

2. 08:30Speedboat from Samui

   About 45 minutes to the park.

3. 09:30Koh Mae Ko

   Walk up to the Emerald Lake lookout.

4. 11:00Koh Wua Talap

   Climb to the viewpoint, or relax on the beach.

5. 12:30Lunch

   Thai lunch on the island.

Good to know

• The viewpoint climb is steep; wear proper shoes.
• October to mid-December brings rough seas and possible park closures.
• Snorkelling here is modest; the views are the reason to go.
