Overview

Cheow Lan Lake sits in the middle of Khao Sok, one of the oldest rainforests on earth. Limestone towers rise straight out of emerald water, and the only places to stay are floating bungalows moored in quiet coves.

You'll cross the lake by longtail, kayak from your front door, and head out at dawn and dusk when gibbons, hornbills and other wildlife are most active.

Itinerary

Day 1Across the lake

Pickup and drive to Ratchaprapha Dam. Longtail across the lake to your floating bungalows, lunch, then kayaking and swimming. Late-afternoon wildlife cruise and dinner on the water.

Day 2Dawn safari and jungle walk

Early boat trip to look for wildlife as the mist lifts. Breakfast, then a guided jungle walk to a cave or viewpoint. Lunch, then back across the lake and drive to your hotel.
